RACEREPORT: Why they call it Bastard hill

This was my first weekend of triathlon racing for 2007 in Bakersfield, CA. The race was a mix of two distances. 1.5k swim, a 40k bike and a 15k run.

All went very well, especially for being out of training for nearly 5 months. This was solidified with a 3rd spot in the age group and 10th overall. The run lead us over two hills called Bastard Hill and Hangglider Hill. I leave it up to your imagination how steep these hills were. There were only a handful people running up it, most of them walked it.

The Kain Performance team did very well with Coach Pete winning it all (overall/age-group) and with it qualified for the world-championship. Also 7 out of the 8 athletes participating walked away with podium spots. Kain is now well known in North and South CA.
Next race will be in HAWAII on June 2. Celebrating my 3rd year at Honuhalf, this time 20+ Kain-tri-athletes will join me.
